- What We Believe -

The broad, global intention of Warsaw Wesleyan Church (Why we are here): The mission of Warsaw Wesleyan Church is to build fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ who reach Warsaw and beyond with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The more specific means by which the mission will be realized (What we will do): Our vision is to lead people into membership in Christ's family, to develop them to Christ-like maturity, and inspire them for ministry in the church and life mission in the world in order to magnify Christ. The Core Values Of Warsaw Wesleyan Church (How We Do It!):

  • We believe that people without Christ are important to God, therefore they are important to us.
Principle: The most effective means of evangelism takes place when worshiping, devoted believers intentionally establish relationships with non-believers. This affirms relationship evangelism and a process that leads to a decision. [Luke 5:30-32; Luke 15, Matthew 18:14.]
  • We believe that full devotion to Christ and His cause is normal for every believer.
Principle: Normal Christianity, not average, is the kind that impacts culture. This interfaces with the concepts of holiness, obedience, stewardship, servanthood, and the pursuit of kingdom goals. [1 Kings 11:4; Philippians 2:1-11; 2 Corinthians 8:7; 1 Peter 1:13-16.]
  • We believe that the Church should be culturally relevant while remaining doctrinally pure.
Principle: Being true to the Scriptures while being sensitive to our culture is critical to sharing the Gospel effectively. We are committed to engaging our culture by meeting the spiritual, physical, and emotional needs of people in our community. We want to effectively communicate the truth of God's Word in the "language" of the people. [1 Corinthians 9:19-23; Matthew 25:44-45; Proverbs 14:31.]
  • We believe that God's power for ministry is released through prayer and that active participation in prayer is essential to the task of building fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ and reaching Warsaw and beyond with the Gospel.
Principle: Human effort alone is not enough. Intercessory prayer is the Lord's strategy for empowering the church and reaching the world and should be ours. [1 John 5:14-15; Matthew 21:21-22. 16:23-24.]
  • We believe that a life of God-centered Worship glorifies God, builds up the believer, and attracts the lost.
Principle: It is in the process of being worshiped that God communicates His presence to people. [Luke 10:38-41; John 4:23-24; Revelation 4.]
  • We believe that Bible exposition and application is essential for transformation in individuals' lives and in the church.
Principle: Rightly understanding the Word of God and diligently applying its truth to one's life is transforming and empowering. Rightly proclaiming the Word of God includes being practical, clear, and true to the Scriptures. [2 Timothy 3:16-17.]
  • We believe that a healthy church is characterized by seeing people saved and sent out so as to raise up laborers for cross-cultural and world outreach. This is essential for fulfilling the Great Commission.
Principle: Seeking to reach the whole world with the Gospel is necessary not only for world evangelization to occur, but in order to build fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ. More than numerical growth, laborers are the greatest need for world-wide harvest. [Matthew 9:37-38; Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 1:8.]
  • We believe that life-change happens best within the context of Biblical community which includes the practice of mentoring, small groups, discipleship, and authentic spiritual relationships. The Good News is that God accepts us as we are, but the great news is that He doesn't leave us that way.
Principle: Fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ cannot be mass produced; they reach spiritual maturity best by life-on-life mentoring. [Luke 6:12-13; Acts 2:44-47.]
  • We believe that excellence honors God, reflects His character, and inspires people.
Principle: Commitment to doing things with excellence is not only pleasing to God, but taps an incredible source of energy from people. [Colossians 3:17; Malachi 1:6-14.]
  • We believe that loving, Godly relationships should permeate every aspect of church life.
Principle: Exercising the balance between love and truth is essential for the development of Christian maturity and unity in the body of believers. [1 Corinthians 13; Nehemiah 3; John 13:34-35; Ephesians 4:11]
